Safety First: How We Ensure Responsible Alcohol Delivery

Last Call Team5 min read

Delivering alcohol is a privilege, not just a business. At Last Call, we take this responsibility seriously and have built multiple layers of safeguards to ensure every delivery is safe, legal, and compliant with California regulations.

Our commitment to responsible delivery starts with a three-step age verification process. First, every user must confirm their date of birth and verify their identity when creating an account. We use trusted third-party verification services to ensure accuracy.

Second, at checkout, we reconfirm the order recipient is 21 or older. Third, and most importantly, our delivery drivers verify age at the door by checking a valid, unexpired, government-issued photo ID before handing over any order.

Our drivers undergo mandatory training on responsible alcohol delivery practices before they can accept their first delivery. This training covers California alcohol laws, recognizing fake IDs, identifying signs of intoxication, and handling refusal situations professionally.

If a driver arrives and the recipient cannot produce valid ID, appears to be under 21, or shows signs of visible intoxication, the driver is trained and empowered to refuse the delivery. The order is returned and the customer is notified. We never penalize drivers for making responsible decisions.

We also use technology to support our safety efforts. Our app includes geofencing to ensure deliveries stay within legal service areas, time restrictions that comply with local alcohol sale hours, and flagging systems that alert our team to unusual ordering patterns.

Beyond delivery, we are investing in the broader community through our 6% charitable contribution to DUI prevention, alcohol awareness, and homeless support. We believe that making alcohol more convenient comes with a responsibility to give back. That is the Last Call promise.
